The woman was upset and told her grandmother that her husband cheated on her.

Whenever we encounter challenges in life, we have a natural inclination to confide in others about our fears and hardships. This helps us realize that we are not alone in our struggles.

A woman found out her husband was unfaithful. She felt devastated and sought comfort from her grandma. The wise grandma then led her to the kitchen and boiled water in three pots. She then added a carrot, an egg, and coffee beans into each pot.

The granddaughter was perplexed and inquired her grandmother about the situation. The grandmother advised her to remain patient and witness it firsthand.

After a while, the grandmother removed the carrot and requested her granddaughter to explain what happened to the vegetable when it was in the water. The granddaughter replied that the boiling water made the carrot soft. Interestingly, the same boiling water made the egg hard. However, it was the coffee beans that altered the water.

The grandmother inquired which of the three her granddaughter identified with: the carrot, the egg, or the coffee beans.

Adversities can have different effects on us. Like water softens a carrot, they can make us more flexible and understanding. Similarly, like an egg, they can make us stronger and tougher. However, if we choose to be like a coffee bean, we don’t let the situation affect us. Instead, we strive to change it in a way that benefits us and helps us grow to a higher level.

The granddaughter gained a valuable insight on that particular day.

Are you the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean?
