The Robinson family began setting up the baby’s room right after they moved into their new home, ensuring it would be ready for the arrival of their newest family member.
In just four months, Mrs. Robinson was set to give birth to a boy, her second child, in that time frame.
The Robinsons had a passion for animals, but due to their landlord’s restrictions against having a dog in their apartment, they decided they would settle for at least one puppy instead.
The two wives took their 6-year-old son Matias to an animal shelter to select a dog. They were looking for a gentle puppy that could grow up on the farm alongside the children.
After exploring the paddocks and hearing some heartbreaking stories about the dogs, they felt uncertain about which puppy to pick.
As they were about to leave, they encountered Benson, a 4-year-old pit bull. He walked back to them with his tail tucked between his legs, as if he had completely lost trust in humans.
The Robinson family asked about Benson, and the shelter staff shared that he had endured a truly terrible life.
After being used in dog fights, he had been abandoned on the streets, where volunteers eventually rescued him.
Before being taken in by a couple, Benson spent some time at the dog shelter. However, after just two weeks, they returned Benson to the shelter, claiming he had behavioral issues and was aggressive towards his owners.
Despite the volunteers’ warnings that Benson should not be around children, he was adopted anyway.
Mr. Robinson requested a chance for Benson. They eventually made it home, even though Benson was not fond of being on a leash, and getting to the car proved to be a challenge.
Initially, Benson was quite nervous, quiet, and withdrawn. However, as time passed, he managed to adjust and form connections with each family member, particularly Matias.
When Mrs. Robinson gave birth, they brought the newborn home and introduced Benson to him.
Benson gently licked the baby’s face after giving him a sniff. The owners quickly realized that Benson was a sweet dog and that they would get along well.
The baby was just two months old when the Robinsons were startled awake one night by loud barking.
He kept barking and attempted to get into the crib, but the safety bars stopped him. In his effort to reach the baby, he began chewing on the cot.
When the Robinsons picked up the child, they discovered that the infant had stopped breathing, which initially alarmed them because they thought Benson was trying to hurt the baby.
He was transported to a local hospital, where the medical team successfully revived him. The physician informed the parents that had the baby stayed in cardiorespiratory arrest for over 30 minutes, he would not have survived.
Benson gained fame and demonstrated that nothing happens by chance. The Robinson family was the first to offer Benson an opportunity, and in the end, Benson saved their baby’s life.
