I have always admired Sally Field. She is an icon and an incredibly talented actress. At 76 years old, she has experienced numerous on-screen romances throughout her remarkable career.
As a result, she has certainly had her share of on-screen kisses as well. Recently, she revealed which one she considered the worst, although she was initially hesitant to disclose which co-star it was with.
Regarded as one of the most adaptable and skilled actresses of her time, Sally Field can reflect on a wonderful career in Hollywood. She has captivated us with her memorable performances in a variety of films and television shows.
For instance, I will always remember her striking performance in Steel Magnolias, especially that poignant funeral scene. Sally excelled at depicting a woman grappling with love, disappointment, anger, and grief.
Additionally, she is well-known for her roles in beloved films and series such as Gidget, The Flying Nun, Smokey and the Bandit, Forrest Gump, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Erin Brockovich.
Sally was born into a working-class show business family in Pasadena, California.
However, her childhood was anything but a fairytale. In her memoirs, Sally shared that her stepfather committed some very terrible acts against her, and she underwent a secret abortion at the age of 17.
Despite this, she blossomed into a truly beautiful and humble person.
Currently, Sally remains actively engaged in her work. She portrayed Janice in the 2020 TV series Dispatches From Elsewhere. In 2022, she took on the role of Jessie Buss in Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a well-known series that depicts the professional and personal lives of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1980s.
Given her level of activity, it’s no wonder that Sally occasionally appears in interviews.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” the beloved actress Sally Field chose to reveal her most embarrassing on-screen kiss after a fan posed a challenging question.
Field, 76, glanced around after the inquiry was made, chuckling, “Oh boy. Should I really name names here?”
“I think you should,” Cohen, 54, encouraged her.
Field relented: “Alright. This is going to be a surprise. Hold on, everyone.”
The Oscar-winning star identified her former boyfriend, Burt Reynolds, as the one responsible for the awkward moment.
Cohen quickly interjected, asking, “But weren’t you two dating at that time?”
Field clarified that it was while they were filming “Smokey and the Bandit” that she had to “look the other way” during the scenes. She mentioned that this was because it “just wasn’t something he really did for you.”
“Isn’t that something,” Cohen replied, taken aback.
The actress further elaborated that there was quite a bit of “drooling” on Reynolds’ part while they shared the screen.
The two co-stars first met in 1977 while working on “Smokey and the Bandit,” and they dated for approximately five years.
Reynolds, who sadly passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 82, reportedly reflected on his relationship with Field in his memoir, But Enough About Me, as noted by the New York Post.
The star expressed remorse about their time together, wishing he had made more effort to keep their relationship intact.
In March, Field shared with Variety that she had ceased communication with Reynolds during the last 30 years of his life for valid reasons.
“He was not someone I could be around,” she explained. “He was simply not beneficial for me in any way. And he had somehow convinced himself, through his rethinking of everything, that I was more significant to him than he actually believed, but I wasn’t. He merely desired what he couldn’t have. I just didn’t want to handle that.”
I have always held nothing but the highest admiration and respect for Sally Field’s work. Truly exceptional!
