We cannot specially name any single species when it comes to unique and beautiful birds. There are thousands of colorful birds with all kinds of striking patterns and unique quirks in the world. Bearded Reedlings are one of the cutest little birds.
They are brown and white in color and with tiny yellow beaks, and the males have long black “mustaches” as opposed to “beards.” They are also very sociable and quite noisy little birds. Their “ping” calls often alert bird watchers to their presence.
Europe is their home with the UK breeding around 630 pairs. The European continent and parts of Asia have between 232,000 and 437,000 birds. They can often be found in the wetlands among the reeds.
These birds don’t migrate unlike many other types of birds. They are more easily seen during the winter months, especially when they puff up their feathers to attain additional warmth. They are also called bearded bushtits. These birds were just given the nickname because of their appearance and not actually related to any birds in the tit family.
Female birds are typically paler and they don’t have the trademark mustache marking of the males.
Here are a few more gorgeous photos of these incredible birds.
