Long-Term Renter Learns Deceased Owner Left Home Under Her Name

There are two kinds of individuals in the world: homeowners and renters. Each has their own pros and cons, but sometimes uncertainty can arise.

Jane Sayner, a 75-year-old woman, had been renting a two-bedroom apartment in Melbourne, Australia for many years. Unexpectedly, she encountered a situation that left her uncertain about the outcome. The rent for her apartment was $250 per week.

John Perrett, the homeowner, is a multimillionaire and a very generous person. Jane lived in the house for 25 years, and he never increased the rent.

After the landlord passed away, she was uncertain about finding a new place to live. She anticipated higher costs, but fortunately, she didn’t need to stress about it.

Following her landlord’s unexpected passing in September 2020, he surprised everyone by leaving millions of dollars to different charities as a philanthropist. Additionally, he did something special for Jane.

Jane appears to have been one of two tenants residing in two properties for an extended period. Before his passing, he transferred ownership of the house to her by putting it in her name.

She was unaware, but he called one day to ask for her full name. He mentioned his lawyer was present and informed her that he would be leaving her the apartment. Initially, she doubted what she heard, but she was indeed correct.

Ever since she moved in, she has always treated the place like it belonged to her. And now, she has the chance to spend the rest of her life in that very location.
