Turning over a new leaf and beginning anew is a feat that not everyone has the bravery to undertake. Yet, Bethany Provencher is not one to shy away from challenges and fresh starts.
This remarkable woman, a single mother to an 11-year-old son, gathered her belongings and relocated to St. Charles, Illinois, seeking a new chapter after spending 18 years in Miami.
With 25 years of experience in the customer service field, she swiftly secured a position as a server at the local IHOP. Although she moved into a new apartment, she found herself without the funds to furnish it.
One day, while working, she noticed two familiar faces: singer-songwriter Donnie Wahlberg and his wife, Jenny McCarthy.
Since Donnie was one of Bethany’s favorite singers, she felt thrilled to serve them. Little did she know, the day was about to get even better.
After finishing their lunch, Donnie and Jenny settled the bill of $35.27 and left a note for Bethany on the receipt that said, “Thanks, Bethany, Happy New Year. 2020 Tip Challenge,” along with a generous tip of $2,020.
They requested that she refrain from opening the receipt until they had departed. When she finally had the opportunity to check it, she saw the substantial tip. It goes without saying that Bethany was thrilled.
