Police Officer Becomes Viral Sensation with an Incredible National Anthem Performance.

Carlton Smith, a police officer at West Virginia University, became an internet sensation after his amazing performance of the national anthem at a men’s basketball game.

On January 12, while Smith was working at the WVU Coliseum, university administrators urgently asked him for a favor. The scheduled singer was delayed due to snow, and they needed someone to perform the national anthem within five minutes.

Officer Smith, a member of the West Virginia University Police Department for four years, is known for his singing talent among his colleagues. He is currently 28 years old. Interestingly, 13 years ago, he successfully advanced to the Hollywood round of “American Idol”. Despite being familiar with similar circumstances, Smith was taken by surprise when asked to perform in front of 14,000 spectators at the Coliseum.

Smith explained that they inquired about Carlton and asked for a favor. I asked for water, and a cheerleader brought it to me. Then, they guided me to the court and told me to start singing when my name was called.

Over 2 million individuals have viewed Smith’s show on YouTube. When he’s off work, Smith continues his childhood pastime of singing in church by joining a band for open mic nights. “It’s what I love to do,” he admitted.
